Newly promoted Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion are locked in a transfer battle for the signature of exciting Brazilian attacker Jonathan Cafu.
The Brazilian has caught the eye for Bulgarian side Ludogorets and he scored against Arsenal in last season’s Champions League.
Both Newcastle and Brighton are keen on bringing the pacey attacker to the Premier League. Sports Witness says that Brighton approached the player in May, but have yet to make a bid.
Newcastle are now also thought to have joined the chase, with Sporting Lisbon in Portugal also hovering. Ludogorets rebuffed offers for Cafu in the January transfer window, but implied they would be more willing to sell this summer for the right price.
