Gabigol Apologises for Inter Bench Snub

Inter Milan attacker Gabriel Barbosa has apologised for storming off of the bench and into the locker room during Inter’s match with Lazio on Sunday. With all 3 substitutes used, Gabigol left the bench and went back to the dressing room.

The young Brazilian has found opportunities very limited in Serie A, but he took to his twitter account to apologise for his conduct, “Yesterday during the game between Lazio and Inter, I suddenly had a thoughtless and inadequate attitude when leaving the field before ending the game.

“After the heat of the game had passed, calmly and with the support of my family, I saw that this is contrary to my sportsmanship and my professional values. I acknowledge my mistake and would like to register my sincere apologies to all the Nerazzurri supporters who have always supported me and my teammates.”

Inter boss Stefano Vecchi confirmed the club will take disciplinary action against the forward they signed from Santos last August, “Did he expect to come on?" Maybe, like all those who are sitting on the bench. He probably had high expectations just as the club and the fans had about him.

“It is not always the fault of the coach, he has some good qualities that should be used in the service of the team. Why has he not found space with any of the coaches this season? Because in this squad there are very strong attackers.

“Icardi has 25 goals this season, Eder is playing very well, and Palacio, who is a great player and a great man, is out but he always trains to the maximum. All this should be an example for all young people. Today, Gabigol has left the bench and the club will take action.”
