Gabriel Jesus was delighted to return to action for Manchester City on Thursday evening against local rivals Manchester United. The Brazilian came off the bench on 83 minutes for his first appearance since breaking a bone in his foot in February.
The 19 year old thought he had scored a late winner, but the goal was correctly ruled out for offside. Jesus told the Manchester City website, “Good, good. I am feeling very well. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to win this game, but it’s awesome to be back and be able to play.
“I only played ten minutes but physically I am well, adjusting myself quite well. Now I just need to keep on training and we shall see. I feel very well and in shape.”
Jesus refused to be downhearted, despite seeing his late strike cancelled by the linesman’s flag, “I am sad, because the goal was offside,” he said. “But apart from that, it’s great to be back knowing I could score.
“This gives me a lot of confidence to carry on and taking this into the next games. I know I can carry on doing, what I was doing before and what I like the most, which is play (football).”
