Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero says that he recognises that Gabriel Jesus will eventually take his place at City. The 28 year old Argentine joined the Manchester club in 2011 and has been a mainstay of a side that has won two league titles and an FA Cup in that time.

Aguero lost his place to the Brazilian when he arrived from Palmeiras back in January. However, a broken metatarsal bone sidelined young Jesus and Aguero has taken full advantage of winning his place back.

But in an interview with Sky Sports, Aguero said that he understands it’s only a matter of time before Jesus replaces him permanently, “Of course Gabriel is a great young player, and that’s why he’s at Manchester City. I know the time will come when I will have to make room for him.”

Aguero says in the short term, Jesus’ return means he will have to fight even harder for his place, “I’m happy that Gabriel has returned and that means that I will have to be much more focused and alert to continue in the starting lineup.”
