Barcelona attacker Neymar Junior insists that he is not preoccupied with thoughts of winning the Ballon D’Or this year. The Brazilian came third in 2016 behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, with the pair now in their 30s, Neymar seems ready to take the crown.
The ex Santos man is considered one of the favourites for the 2016 award, but he says he is not thinking about it, “I do not think of being the best in the world, it’s not something I prioritize,” he told Esporte Interativo.
“Of course winning the Ballon D’Or is a big dream, but it comes naturally. It does not matter where I am or who I am playing for, whether it is the best team or not, but my game on the field. If I’m okay, things will happen.”
Neymar also reiterated his satisfaction with life at the Nou Camp, having signed a new contract last year, “I’m feeling really good in Barcelona, I’m happy here, and every player likes to play with great players.”
