Brazil boss Tite says that the team’s early qualification for the 2018 World Cup is entirely down to the players. Brazil have been revolutionised under the new coach, who has taken them from 6th to 1st in the CONMEBOL rankings by winning all 8 of his games in charge.

However, the ex-Corinthians boss was keen to emphasise that he has a great squad of players with a good blend of experience, “I do not know what I did. I know what I did not. Some things are essential, one of them is the quality of the players.

“Without quality I do not see any coach being successful over time. We have a good quality, players in a moment of maturity, others already in full form, young players coming up. It’s a very good mix,” he explained

“We just needed confidence and the game against Ecuador was fundamental to rescue that confidence,” he said, referring to Brazil’s 3-0 win in Quito in September in his first match in charge. Brazil will play friendlies against Australia and Argentina in Melbourne in June as they prepare for Russia next year.
