Brazil’s Technical Director Edu Gaspar says that the June friendly against Australia will be "great preparation" for next year’s World Cup. Brazil sealed qualification last week and can look ahead to the tournament in Russia.

The Seleção have drawn criticism for not choosing European opponents, having not played European opposition for some time. Instead, Brazil will face Argentina and Australia in Melbourne in June. But Edu has refuted this criticism.

"Playing against Argentina and Australia will be great for our preparation to be good for the World Cup." The most recent meeting between the sides saw Brazil win 6-0.

"It will be a good experience for us [Brazil] to play against Australia, because we have been playing against South American teams and we want to play against another team [outside of South America]. We’re looking forward to it."
