Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho insists that he is not worried by the prospect of the Reds being overtaken in the Premier League table by local rivals Everton. The teams meet on Saturday lunchtime, with the Toffees six points behind Liverpool in the standings.

A win for Everton will cut the gap to three points, but Coutinho says this is not on Liverpool’s mind as they focus on the game, "I don"t think about [Everton"s form] or worry about that," he said. “Right now, Liverpool is higher in the league, that"s the reality and that"s all we have to think about."

Coutinho and Firmino are flying back to Liverpool from São Paulo on a private jet, after the pair played in the Seleção’s 3-0 win over Paraguay at Arena Corinthians in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time.

"We will be ready. The derby is a very special match for everyone, the fans and the players. We know what it means. The people of Liverpool live this match with so much emotion and this time it is even more because Everton have improved so much in recent weeks.

“We know it won"t be easy, but we know we have to win, for our fans, for our morale and for everybody."
