Brazil boss Tite says that teams double marking Neymar has less of an impact now, because the team collective is so strong. Neymar was on target with a wonderful solo goal in the Seleção’s 3-0 win over Paraguay on Tuesday night.

The Barcelona man was also on the scoresheet in a 4-1 win over Uruguay in Montevideo on Thursday. Brazil have been reliant on Neymar in the past, but with 8 wins in their last 8 matches, this is no longer the case.

"The collective empowers the individual," said Tite, "If the ball arrives to Neymar, they mark [him], but the other side is more exposed. Coutinho creates chances. Enter Fagner, enter Paulinho. We take Neymar to one side, let him be isolated and make room for another.

"If they mark two, somewhere there are going to be people free. [We have to] find these alternative areas." Brazil’s qualification was confirmed after Peru defeated Uruguay in Lima a few hours after their win in São Paulo.

Tite is calm about Brazil’s prospects, but insists his squad has nothing to be afraid of, "I cannot make comparisons with previous situations. These are stages and moments that each [group] lived. Football is a series of important steps.

“If the team is growing and consolidating, let it keep improving… I will monitor each step so that it is solid, demanding. Every game, every training session, we will seek consolidation and evolution."
