Roberto Firmino sat out of Brazil’s training session in São Paulo on Monday. The Seleção trained at the Corinthians Arena, but the Liverpool man was not well enough to take part.

Firmino is suffering with a throat infection and was ordered to stay back at the hotel by manager Tite. Sport Recife’s Diego Souza took Firmino’s place in training.

Firmino started as a false 9 in Thursday’s 4-1 win over Uruguay and Diego would adopt the same role if Firmino was not considered fit for selection tonight. However, it is understood that the Liverpool man should be ok to start.

Tite conducted an open training session on Monday. Right-back Dani Alves is suspended, so his place will be taken by Fágner. The starting XI in training was otherwise unchanged from Thursday’s win in Montevideo.

Tite only allowed journalists to view the first 15 minutes of the session on this occasion. Last year he allowed them to see the tactical element of the session on the understanding that no details would be revealed. However, one publication reneged on the understanding, so Tite no longer allows journalists to see the full training.
