A.S Monaco full-back Fabinho insists that the French side will not quell their attacking style for the second leg of their Champions League tie against Manchester City this week. Monaco trail 5-3 from the first leg, after an absorbing tie in Manchester.

Monaco three times allowed a lead to slip in that match, but the Brazilian told Globo Esporte that they will be just as enterprising in France on Wednesday, “This is our style of play, it brought us to this phase of the competition and put us top of the French Championship.

“So it’s a bit difficult to change that style. Of course we have to improve, and this is what we are going to try to do, especially the defensive mistakes we made, some silly mistakes, as they were very preventable goals. Let’s look at what happened and improve enough for it not to happen again.”

Fabinho says his team will not necessarily take inspiration from Barcelona’s immense comeback against Paris Saint Germain last week, “This game was atypical. I did not expect that PSG would be eliminated, but it happened. This shows once again that in football everything is possible.

“Our difference is smaller, we need to win by two goals, but that does not take the level of difficulty. It will be very difficult against Manchester City- they are a great team. I do not think much about this Barça game.

“You can take some examples, yes, but we have a different way of playing compared to Barcelona. We do not have MSN (Messi, Suarez, Neymar), but we rely on our strength, with our players. I think it’s possible to reverse the tie and we’ll do everything to make that happen.”
