Sky Sports pundit and ex Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has expressed concern over the current form of Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian was substituted in the 59th minute of the Reds’ 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday for youngster Ben Woodburn.

Coutinho completed no take ons and registered no shots and no key passes before being removed on 59 minutes, with the scores level. Since returning from injury in the New Year, Coutinho has struggled to reproduce his early season form.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Redknapp, who represented Liverpool from 1991-2002, said, “The one worry for me is Philippe Coutinho at the moment. The man was on fire earlier in the season, he was the difference.

“But some of the magic has gone and he needs to try and get that back. That’s the manager’s job this week. Especially at Man City where he’s had a lot of success in the last two or three seasons. That’s a bit of a worry for me because he makes such a difference. When he plays well, so do Liverpool.”
