Watford goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes says that the Hornets can build on the point they earned against West Ham United on Saturday. A 1-1 draw between the sides leaves both teams in the relative comfort of midtable.

Brazilian goalkeeper Gomes, who celebrated his 36th birthday recently, says the result and the performance against the Irons gives Watford something to build on, “I believe the point was fair,” he told watfordfc.com.

“I don’t think we played that well in the second-half. They were much better than us and we couldn’t keep the ball and that made things very difficult. Overall, we started the game very well but unfortunately we couldn’t hold on for the whole match. But overall I believe a point was the fair result.”

Teammate Younes Kaboul singled out the ex Cruzeiro, PSV and Spurs goalkeeper for praise for his performance, “Gomes made some very good saves, at his age to perform as he did – I take my hat off to him. He’s a very professional guy and he’s a lovely guy, but West Ham saw that once we didn’t get the second they started pushing.”
