Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that defender David Luiz will be rested for Saturday evening’s 5th Round FA Cup tie with Wolves, but has confirmed that the knee injury the player has been carrying is not as bad as first feared.

The Brazilian was limping heavily after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, leading to fears that he would be unavailable for Saturday’s cup showdown. However, Conte suggested the injury was only bruising and Luiz will be rested for the match to give other players in the squad a chance to play.

Conte told his Friday press conference gathering, "We have the opportunity to give him a week to recover very well and to prepare for the next game. His knee is okay. [It has] improved a lot. All the players are in good form and I have only the problem to make the best choices for the game."

It is expected that Kurt Zouma, who has struggled for minutes this season, will be given the opportunity to play in Luiz’s place, or maybe captain John Terry, who has likewise played rarely in this campaign.
