‘Gabriel Jesus is Manchester City’s future’ says Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Gabriel Jesus after the 19 year old scored his first goal for City in the 4-0 demolition of West Ham United at the London Stadium. His first half goal made it 3-0 to the Citizens, who eventually added a 4th with a Yaya Toure penalty in the second half.

Speaking of Jesus and his colleagues Iheanacho and Leroy Sane, Guardiola said, “These three guys are the future for this club. The average age is 20 years old. You cannot see strikers as young as those in big European clubs at the moment, so that is good for the future.

“We're delighted Gabriel arrived already for the team. He's showing us his potential and his level. He is able to fight against players who are taller than him. He is young, a striker for Brazil, so he has something.”

“He wants to be a good player, and that helps a lot. He has dreams about what he wants to do in his future career. He wants to become something in world football, and we're going to try and get that for us.”

The youngster was delighted with his first goal in England, having also teed up Kevin de Bruyne’s opener, “I am really happy. I was looking forward to scoring my first goal. I also like to assist and help the team out in other ways. The adaptation process is going great, my team-mates and the club are helping me, so I can stay focused on the football.”
