Ex-Chelsea midfielder Oscar has scored on his debut for Shanghai SIP in Doha. The Brazilian departed the Blues’ last week in a move worth around £60m, which makes him the fourth highest paid player in the world behind Ronaldo, Messi and Carlos Tevez.
The 25-year-old scored after coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 friendly win against Saudi Arabian side Al-Batin in Doha, Qatar. Oscar had only trained with his new team for two days, but insists that he is ready for the challenge in China.
“I only trained for two days,” he said. “This is the start of a new season – we have only one goal, which is to win. My team-mates played very well today. The Chinese guys tried to help us settle. It’s difficult to have a good game in such a short time – they made it happen.”
Oscar will be managed by ex-Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas and counts compatriots Hulk and Eriksen as teammates, as well as Portuguese centre half Ricardo Carvalho, who has joined from Monaco. The Chinese Super League kicks off in March.
