Corinthians and Atlético Mineiro are close to a deal for Marlone
The transfer of attacking midfielder Marlone from Corinthians to Atlético Mineiro is close to being completed.
According to Globo Esporte, emissaries involved in the operation with Corinthians have already signaled that an agreement between the two clubs is very close. The offer of Atlético Mineiro is €3 million for 100% of Marlone's economic rights. Corinthians own 50% of the player's economic rights, and the other half belongs to Penapolense, a club used by the company Elenko Sports [of agent Fernando Garcia] for player registration. Atlético Mineiro and Corinthians are only discussing the form of payment for the release of Marlone. Galo have offered €3 million and would cancel Corinthians' debt of €400,000 referring to the transfer of Giovanni Augusto to Timão in January this year. Marlone has already agreed to a transfer, although he was initially reluctant to leave Corinthians. At Galo, Marlone can play the Copa Libertadores and will be under the command of newly appointed coach Roger Machado, who's responsible for requesting the signing of the player.
Negotiations to bring William Pottker from Ponte Preta is directly related to the departure of Marlone. With the endorsement of Corinthians for the sale to Atlético, representatives of Elenko Sports are committed to help them in the purchase of Pottker, who was one of the top goal-scorers in this year's Brasileirão. Marlone is currently on vacation in the United States and is expected to return to Brazil in the next few days, so that the details of the operation are closed between Atlético and Corinthians.
