Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has dismissed suggestions that he considered dropping Roberto Firmino for Tuesday night’s 4-1 win over Stoke City at Anfield. Firmino was arrested on a drink driving charge in the early hours of Christmas morning in Liverpool city centre.
The Brazilian will appear in court on 31st January to answer a charge of DUI. The offence came around 60 hours before the Reds’ clash with Stoke City. But boss Jurgen Klopp insisted that it never crossed his mind to drop Firmino.
“He was the best man in training. There was no chance to leave him out. He was outstanding,” said Klopp, after watching Firmino score the 2nd goal in the home side’s comprehensive 4-1 victory over Mark Hughes’ team.
