Felipe Melo agrees personal terms with Palmeiras

Brazilian defensive midfielder Felipe Melo will have a three-year contract and a fixed salary of R$ 290,000 plus bonuses at Palmeiras.
Palmeiras took a giant step in their negotiations to sign Felipe Melo on Monday. The current Brasileirão champions have reached an agreement on wages, contract length, and other bonuses with Felipe Melo. The information was confirmed to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola by the club. Felipe Melo's transfer is not yet completed because a deal with his club Inter Milan is pending. Melo's contract was automatically extended in the last window and only expires in July 2018. The offer made by Palmeiras and accepted by the former national team player is as follows: fixed monthly salary of R$ 290,000 [around €85,000], plus bonuses for productivity, number of games played and titles won. One of Felipe Melo's demands to return to Brazil was a contract of more than two years, which was put forward by Palmeiras. At the age of 33, the defensive midfielder has been in Europe since 2004. He's had spells at Real Mallorca, Racing Santander, Almería, Fiorentina, Juventus, Galatasaray and Inter Milan. To reach terms with Felipe Melo, Palmeiras had to overcome the competition of São Paulo, Corinthians, Valencia and Fenerbahçe.
