According to the information from UOL Esporte, Corinthians are another club interested in Inter Milan’s defensive midfielder Felipe Melo, who’s in advanced talks with Palmeiras.
As Corinthians plans to give more space to the youth in 2017, the former Seleção player is seen as a possible leader for the team next year. Felipe Melo was also linked to other Brazilian clubs like São Paulo and Flamengo. Despite the desire to have the player, Corinthians haven’t submitted an official proposal, which leaves them behind rivals Palmeiras in the race. It will not be easy for Corinthians to compete with Palmeiras, who until now have signalled with the highest wages to Felipe Melo. In this scenario, Corinthians would have to race against time and demonstrate financial strength to beat off Palmeiras in the negotiations. They will also need to negotiate with Inter Milan, but the Italian club are open to the release of Felipe Melo. Avoiding the salary of Melo, who is not among the main options of the team, would already be advantageous for the Italians.
