Outgoing Chelsea midfielder Oscar has paid tribute to the ‘special’ Chelsea fans, with the player due to join Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIP in January. The move was confirmed by Chelsea yesterday.

Oscar will become the 7th most expensive footballer of all time and is expected to earn a wage of around £400,000 a week in China.  Oscar used his Instagram account to thank Chelsea fans for their support since he joined the club in 2012.

Underneath a photo of him sporting Shanghai SIP’s jersey, Oscar said, “I want to thank Chelsea FC, the owner and all the employees who have made my time at the club so special. A very special thank you to the Chelsea fans, you guys are very special and I am honoured to have been a part of your club.

“We have won some special titles together: the UEFA Europa League, the League Cup and of course Premier League champions!!!! You will always have a special place in my heart.” Oscar will hook up with ex Blues boss Andre Villas Boas and compatriot Hulk at Shanghai SIP.
