On Friday, Santos coach Dorival Júnior rejected a proposal to take charge at Corinthians, who have sacked Oswaldo de Oliveira.
According to UOL Esporte, Dorival Júnior is currently enjoying his vacation in the United States, but was approached directly by Corinthian director Alessandro Nunes. However, Dorival claimed to have a commitment with Santos and rejected the offer made by the rival team. This is the second contact made by Corinthians for Dorival Júnior in a few months. On the occasion of Oswaldo de Oliveira’s visit, Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade made an enquiry for the Santos coach, who then decided to stay at Vila Belmiro for 2017. This time, the club did present an offer. In contact with Alessandro, Dorival Júnior claimed that he’s actively participating in Santos’ planning for next year, in addition to having a contract in force with a stipulated release clause. Working for Corinthians in the future, however, is something he does not rule out.
According to the information from reporter Mauro Naves, of TV Globo, the board of Corinthians have ruled out the chances of appointing Guto Ferreira and Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Despite some talks between the leaders, Corinthians still haven’t defined a name to take over the position that belonged to Oswaldo de Oliveira. Jair Ventura, of Botafogo, gained strength in the last hours, but he has already agreed to a contract renewal for another two years.
