Chelsea midfielder Willian has revealed that the recent death of his mother has exacted a physical toll on the player. Willian was voted Chelsea’s Player of the Season last year, but has recently lost his place in the Blues’ starting XI, as well as Brazil’s.

The winger revealed that the recent death of his mother has had a physical as well as psychological impact, “Everybody knows about the difficult moment I’ve been in. I lost three to four kilos for my mother’s loss, so this time is now to recover, to gain confidence, to return to training well and to gradually play games,” Willian said.

Chelsea currently lead the league table by 6 points and the Brazilian thinks his team, who have won 10 Premier League games in a row, can help him rediscover his form, “All players are playing well, the team is on a good run, I will continue working and if I play, I will continue to do my best on the pitch.”
