One of the victims of the Chapecoense plane crash, goalkeeper Danilo was named Craque da Galera [fans" player of the year] during the award ceremony of the best players of the Brazilian Championship.
The announcement was made on Monday, during an event at the headquarters of the Brazilian football federation, in Rio de Janeiro. During the ceremony, Danilo"s mother, Ilaídes Padilha, received loud applause on the stage amd received the award on behalf of her son. There, she recalled the hug she gave to SporTV reporter Guido Nunes at one of the direct entrances to Chapecó a few days after the accident.
“I felt a great desire to hug that reporter at that time. And at that moment, the people who wanted to hug me, that"s what gave me strength, and was keeping me up," said Ilaídes, who was embraced by presenters Vanessa Richie and Luiz Carlos Jr.
