Gabriel Jesús has revealed that he has asked Manchester City for his favoured number 33 shirt when he joins the club in January. The 19 year old has worn the number since breaking through at Palmeiras last year and he wants to keep that tradition going.

City do have the number 33 shirt spare, so it is likely that Jesús will be granted his wish. The striker, who has just won the Brasileirão with Palmeiras, told ESPN Brasil, “I have told City it’s hard without the 33 shirt. I want this number because I used it since I was promoted at Palmeiras.”

The youngster also outlined his hopes that the strong South American contingent in the City squad will help him to settle in Manchester, “Thankfully there are two Brazilians, Argentines, Spaniards, it well help me a lot.

“I’m very happy with the manager’s effort to assure that I adapt myself as quickly as possible so I can show my football and keep playing. Now I’m going there, I’ll enjoy it, rest, and after the moment I start wearing the shirt, show my best.”
