Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina met the premises of the institute of Barcelona striker Neymar, at the invitation of a Brazilian agent linked to the Catalan club.
When they signed Yerry Mina last summer, Palmeiras had an agreement with Barcelona for a first-option on the 22-year-old. The Colombian had the weekend off and took the opportunity to visit Instituto Neymar Jr. in Praia Grande. The invitation was made by the staff of André Cury, who’s a businessman linked to Barcelona and was responsible for brokering the Colombian’s negotiations with Palmeiras. Accompanied by family members, Mina saw the whole structure of the institute, which, among other facilities, has a field, sports court, swimming pool, gym, cinema and classrooms. Through social network,  Neymar, who may be Mina’s partner in the future, thanked the Colombian for his visit. Revealed by Deportivo Pasto of Colombia, the defender was in Santa Fe before making his way to Palmeiras this year. After debuting for the Brazilian side, he quickly established himself as a starter in the team and scored four goals in the Brazilian Championship, which the club won.
In the contract signed by Mina at Palmeiras, there’s a clause which gives the Catalans a purchase-preference. According to Mundo Deportivo, the fee stipulated for Barcelona to sign Mina in the transfer window of January 2017 is €9 million, which is well below the player’s €30 million release clause. If Barça wants to take Mina at the beginning of 2018, then they’d have to pay €10 million, and the fee becomes €12 million if they’re to sign him before 2019. The agreement which gives a priority to Barcelona in signing Mina was tailored after Palmeiras, who approached the representatives of the Colombian, were informed about the interest of the Catalans. Barça initially intended to loan him out, because he wouldn’t have space in the team at that time.
