Corinthians received earlier this week a proposal from Inter Milan for 19-year-old Brazilian left-back Guilherme Arana.
According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, the Italian club wants to close a deal for the youngster as early as December. Initially, Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade had been reluctant to sell the youngster, but it seems he"s willing to negotiate because of the financial problems of the club. Meanwhile, Manchester United"s interest in the Corinthians left-back was reported by media outlets in Italy and Brazil recently. Agents Guilherme Miranda and Leonardo Cornacini had a meeting with the board of Manchester United this month, according to UOL Esporte. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship with the Premier League side, interested in having more details about Guilherme Arana. Although Corinthians sees with good eyes the chance of selling the young player in the next two transfer windows, most of Arana"s rights [60%] is with agents Fernando Garcia, Guilherme Miranda, Thiago Ferro and Nílson Moura Corinthians own just 40% of the economic rights of the player.
The fact that he does not have a European passport would be the first factor to hinder a move to England, since Arana would be enrolled in one of the non-EU vacancies. In addition, the player born in 1997 does not have a large number of call ups to Brazil"s youth teams, and this would make it difficult to obtain the required work permit for foreigners in the Premier League. Arana has been a frequent presence in the call ups of Rogério Micale"s Brazilian U20 national side, and is expected to be part of the squad for the South American Youth Championship in January.
