Brazil boss Tite thinks the best team won the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final at the Mineirão last night. Atlético Mineiro faced Grêmio in the first leg of the final, with the away side taking a commanding 3-1 lead to Porto Alegre.

Tite attended the final alongside Director of Selection Edu Gaspar and Tite was impressed with what he saw, with the likes of Robinho and Luan on show. “It was a great game, a good final. They are two big teams with individual quality and teams that have been assembled over a long period of time.

“Grêmio were better and scored the goals during their best moments of the game, the performance was reflected on the scoreboard.” Tite managed both sides during his career, winning the Brasileirão with Grêmio in 2001.

Estádio Mineirão was the scene of Brazil’s 3-0 win over Argentina two weeks ago and Tite says he had fond memories, re-entering the stadium last night, “The first emotion I had was when I entered the crowded Mineirão. Remember the game is inevitable , but the atmosphere is not.”
