Manchester United’s interest in 19-year-old Corinthians left-back Guilherme Arana was reported by Italian media and confirmed by UOL Esporte in Brazil.
Agents Guilherme Miranda and Leonardo Cornacini had a meeting with the board of Manchester United on Tuesday. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship with the English team, interested in having more details about Guilherme Arana. Corinthians own just 40% of the economic rights of the youngster. Despite the meetings, the transfer, for the time being, is seen as difficult in the evaluation of Arana’s entourage. The fact that he does not have a European passport would be the first factor to hinder the transfer, since Arana would be enrolled in one of the non-EU vacancies. In addition, the player born in 1997 does not have a large number of call ups to Brazil’s youth teams, and this would make it difficult to obtain the required work permit for foreigners in the Premier League.
Keeping an eye on this, however, Guilherme Arana and his representatives defined as essential his presence in all call ups of the U20 team of Rogério Micale. Recently, he was released from Corinthians’ game with Chapecoense to represent Brazil in friendlies. He’s expected to be part of the squad for the South American Youth Championship in January. Although Corinthians sees with good eyes the chance of selling the young player in the next two transfer windows, most part of Arana’s rights is with agents Fernando Garcia, Guilherme Miranda, Thiago Ferro and Nílson Moura, who own 60.
Agent Fernando Garcia told Gazeta Esportiva: “There is nothing certain. We are not talking, but Manchester United are watching Arana.”
