Dida, who retired from football last December, has started as an assistant coach to former Holland and Botafogo midfielder Clarence Seedorf, in Chinese second division side Shenzhen FC.
In 2015, Dida took a course in Technical Management in Football, at the University of Football, and then concluded the ‘A license’ with the CBF. The course promoted by the organisation is the only one in Brazil recognized by CONMEBOL and FIFA, and gives qualification to function as a coach. At the beginning of the current season, Dida, who has played for Vitória, Cruzeiro, Corinthians, Portuguesa, Grêmio, Internacional and the Seleção, had an observation period in Beira-Rio. He did an internship, and it stands as a requirement for the completion of the coaching course. Seedorf and Dida played together at AC Milan, and the Dutchman was announced as coach of Shenzhen FC in early July, but his former colleague’s trip to China came later. The season in the Chinese second division is over and Dida has returned to Brazil, where he will have to set the next steps of his career. Shenzhen FC finished the season in the ninth position, with 40 points.
