Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Lima, who has a contract until 2017 with Santos, wants to stay at the club.
The contract renewal saga of Lucas Lima with Santos seemed like it wouldn"t last much long, until an old acquaintance of the club entered the plot and can stretch the next chapters of the story. Last week, Santos and the player"s representatives entered into an agreement to extend the contract of the number 10. All parties agreed to a new monthly salary of approximately €110,000 and a contract valid until 2021, instead of 2017. Currently, the club has 10% of Lucas" economic rights. In the new contract, Santos wants to have 30% and give 30% to the player. But for this to happen, investment group Doyen Sports would have to give up 50% of the 80% that they hold.
The argument used by Santos is that Lucas Lima should not leave the club until the end of his contract [December 2017] and that Doyen could lose their rights at the end of the bond. Another is the fact that both parties are in court because Santos questions how Doyen acquired part of Lucas Lima in 2014. At first, the Maltese fund would pass on to Santos about R$ 5 million to buy the player, and the transaction would be sort of a loan. Currently, Doyen has 80% of Lucas" economic rights, while Santos and the company Khodor Soccer own 10% each. In the model proposed by Santos, the division would be: 30% for Lucas Lima, 30% for Santos, 30% for Doyen and 10% for Khodor Soccer. Another change to be made in the contract is a sale-price fixed for the player of the Brazilian national team. The current release clause is €50 million, only to protect a proposal that does not please the board of Santos.
