Ex Arsenal left-back André Santos says that he has finally found footballing peace in Turkey. Since leaving the Gunners in 2013, Santos has played for Grêmio, Flamengo, Botafogo-SP in Brazil’s Campeonato Paulista and FC Wil in Switzerland.

During the summer, Santos moved back to Turkey, having represented Fenerbahçe from 2009-2011, joining Second Division side Boluspor. Santos has taken to life in the Turkish second tier, playing in a more advanced role, the 33 year old has 5 goals in his first 8 games for the club.

Speaking to UOL Esporte, Santos insists that he is happier now after a nomadic existence, “The start has been very good. It is a new president who took the project, a project to raise the club in three years. And we have started very well, with the help of all players, who are young players.

“There are six or seven foreigners on the team, we have Senegalese, a Brazilian, three Dutch, German and Turkish. It’s a great mix and I’m very happy. There have been eight games, I have five goals and the crowd have supported me a lot.”

Santos says that Turkey feels like a second home to him after his spell in Istanbul, “I wanted to go back to Turkey and here I am. I have done well and I hope to continue doing well. For me, it’s great, because I’ve always been very adapted here in Turkey. I hope to stay here for a long time.

“I think my previous experience in Turkey helps. Also to have played for Fenerbahçe, which is one of the top clubs in Turkey. I have great respect here, everywhere I go, all the restaurants, all the people know me, remember what we did at Fenerbahçe, which is where I made my name.”
