Watford goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes says that he “does not focus on clean sheets”, so long as Watford win. The Brazilian has been in fine form this season and kept another clean sheet in Saturday’s 0-0 draw away at Swansea.

The Hornets have conceded 13 goals this season, the same amount as Liverpool and only one more than Manchester United. But Gomes, last season’s Players’ and Supporters’ Player of the Year for Watford, insists that his priority is points rather than not conceding.

“I don’t focus on clean sheets because I want my team to win!” he told BBC’s Football Focus, “I’m not saying to them ‘woah, don’t go forward! Don’t press here, don’t defend here!’ I am not this type of player.

“I want them to play their game, if their best game is to attack, let’s attack. Then we’re going to score more goals than the other teams. I love to celebrate goals, I love that, I wait for that. Those are the best moments of the game, when you score. If a goalkeeper doesn’t agree with that, he is wrong!”
