Palmeiras coach Cuca insists he is not worried by Gabriel Jesus’ recent dry form in front of goal. The 19 year old has scored 4 goals in his first 4 matches for the Brazilian national side, but at Palmeiras, he is 8 games without a goal for his club.

Verdão are still on top of the table, but Jesús’ last goal came on 15th September. The teenager will join Manchester City at the end of the Brasileirão season in a deal worth around £32m and his manager says his current form is not a worry.

“It is an oscillation, he is being very tightly marked. I tried him as a centre forward, then on the left, then on the right. He could not find space. Some days it is like that.” Jesús could not find the net as Palmeiras lost 1-0 to Santos on Saturday evening.

“It was not a happy day, but it happens to any great player. Regardless of being young, he remains fundamental for us. It is up to me to get him so he can make the difference in the final stretch,” said Cuca.
