Everything is set between the parties and the expectation is that the contract signing would happen next week.
Fluminense"s board have agreed to renew the contract of attacking midfielder Gustavo Scarpa for five seasons. The new deal of the 22-year-old will be valid until 2021. The expectation, however, is that Scarpa would put pen to paper next week because of Sunday"s game against Coritiba in the Brazilian Championship. As it is a new contract, Gustavo Scarpa must terminate his previous contract [renewed at the end of last year and valid until December 2019] before signing the new bond. If he does that on Friday, Fluminense wouldn"t have sufficient time to register the new agreement in CBF before the match against Coritiba, and Scarpa would have to sit out this weekend. Recently, the player took the Italian passport, a document that can help in a future transfer to Europe. Gustavo Scarpa is the major revelation of Fluminense in 2016, and has registered 14 goals and 15 assists from 56 games this season. He went on to wear the number 10 shirt of the club from September, and is just 3 games away from making a century of appearances for Fluminense.
