With no major changes from the team that defeated Bolivia and Venezuela, coach Tite announced his Brazil squad for next month"s World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Peru.
Marcelo, Casemiro and Douglas Costa, who were removed from the previous squad due to injuries, are back, but the Real Madrid midfielder will still be re-evaluated. Chelsea"s Oscar was dropped, but defenders Rodrigo Caio and Gil were included by the coach. The presentation of the players is scheduled for November 6 in Belo Horizonte. Brazil takes on Argentina at the Mineirão on November 10, before traveling to Lima for the encounter against Peru on the 16th. Just like the previous list, Tite called up 24 players. Guangzhou Evergrande"s Paulinho was suspended for the first match against Bolivia earlier this month, and now the coach doesn"t know if he can count on Casemiro. The Real Madrid midfielder suffered a crack in his fibula during the game against Espanyol in mid-September, and is yet to return to the pitch. He will be re-evaluated and, despite the selection, his presence in next month"s games is uncertain.
Physio Fábio Mahseredjian said: “I was in Madrid and spoke to Real"s medical department. I went there to observe him and other players. He has worked in the pool, does weight training and physiotherapy. Now he"ll undergo an imaging test next Monday. We decided to call him up and monitor him. Now it will depend on his evolution."
Precisely because of this injury, Casemiro was cut off from the squad last time out, when Brazil defeated Bolivia and Venezuela. His replacement was Rafael Carioca of Atlético Mineiro. The same happened with Marcelo and Douglas Costa, who gave their seats to Wendell and Taison, respectively, due to physical problems. Brazil are unbeaten since the arrival of Tite [four games and four wins] and also took the lead in the table with 21 points, one ahead of Uruguay.
