Manchester City midfielder Fernando has urged his side to get back to winning ways as they face Everton tomorrow. City had won their first ten games of the season in all competitions, before a 3-3 draw at Celtic in the Champions League was followed by a 2-0 defeat at White Hart Lane prior to the international break.

The Brazilian is confident that the break will not have any negative effects on City and thinks his team can show that by beating the Toffees, ““Training has been good and we are looking to responding to our loss at Tottenham,” Fernando told the City official website.

“We need to learn from that defeat and return to winning ways again so it’s vital we get back to playing the way we have been. We need to start much better than we did at White Hart Lane and we’re all keen to put that game behind us because we were a long way from our best.”

It’s always a difficult game against Everton but our goal is always the same – to try and win the game and play good football,” said Fernando.“We are back together now after the international break and looking forward to resuming Premier League matches. They’ve started well and have looked really good.

“They are just four points behind us which is an indication of how good a job Ronald Koeman has done. They have made one or two signings and they have a strong squad so we know they’ll be a threat.”
