São Paulo have already decided that they will not keep left-winger Michel Bastos at the club; they want to use the player as a bargaining chip in negotiations.
According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Cruzeiro and Internacional are interested in Michel Bastos, who’s outside the plans of the board of São Paulo for next year. Both clubs have made contact with São Paulo to discuss values. The possibility of a sale abroad is virtually ruled out, and the expectation is that he’s used as a bargaining chip in the negotiations for better players. Throughout the season, he was scouted by several clubs, like Palmeiras, Grêmio and Internacional. His contract with São Paulo ends only in December 2017 and with a monthly salary of over €80,000 he’s one of the highest paid players at the club. Michel Bastos became the main target of the fans in recent months. The former Lyon man was booed on several occasions, and was attacked when organized supporters invaded the team’s training centre last month.
