The Sun newspaper is reporting that Fernandinho is on the verge of signing a two year contract with Manchester City. The Brazilian has impressed Guardiola this season, with the City boss suggesting that the player “can play in any position.”

He has been utilised as a centre half, but primarily as a midfielder this year, where his performances have seen him win his place back in the Seleção. Fernandinho filled in for the injured Casemiro for Brazil’s 5-0 win over Bolivia on Thursday and is expected to do so again in Venezuela on Tuesday night.

Fernandinho joined City from Shakhtar Donestsk in 2013 and his deal is due to expire at the end of the season. But City and Guardiola are reportedly keen to keep him and will offer him a two year contract. The 31 year old has made 150 appearances and scored 16 goals in his three years at City.
