Corinthians are not alone in the race to sign attacking midfielder Jádson from Chinese second division side Tianjin Quanjian.
According to Marcelo Robalinho, the businessman who represents the player, three other teams from the Brazilian Championship have already made contact. Last week, the board of Corinthians revealed its intention to make at least two major signings for the 2017 season. Former Cruzeiro striker Marcelo Moreno and Jádson top the club’s wishlist. As reported by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Jádson’s focus right now is not to return to Brazil, but to ensure promotion to the top division of Chinese football. Jádson, who was Brazilian champion with Corinthians last year, is eyeing a cash prize promised by the owner of Tianjin in case of promotion to the first division. The figures were not disclosed, but are astronomical. Money has not been a problem for Tianjin – they pay over €400,000 per-month to Jadson, €380,000 to Luís Fabiano, and €250,000 to Geuvânio. Responsible for taking them to China, Vanderlei Luxemburgo pocketed around €12 million during his time in China.
Robalinho said: “We had four official approaches from clubs, interested in knowing the financial details. Jádson has another year of contract and the Chinese club would like to renew the bond. The family is also well suited to life in China, so a return to Brazil depend much on the financial aspect. But if we got something very good from Brazil…”
Tianjin Quanjian are the current leaders of Chinese second division table, and can guarantee access to the top division with a draw in their next game, on October 15.
