Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has hailed the impact of new coach Pep Guardiola. The ex Barcelona and Bayern boss has been enamoured with the Brazilian, describing him as a player that “can play in ten positions.”

The feeling seems to be mutual. Fernandinho has been called back into the Seleção squad for World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela in the next week and he looks set to start in place of the injured Casemiro.

Fernandinho spoke in glowing terms of Guardiola’s influence, “Obviously you notice a big difference from the coaches I’ve had. No wonder he was a winner wherever he went. The way he works is very cool, very interesting and you can perfectly understand everything he wants.” The 31 year old enthursed.

“He explains why we are doing things in training, the game, the tactical situations of how to attack and defend. It made me very surprised in a positive way and I am hopeful of doing a good job with him in England.”
