Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro is a doubt for Brazil’s October World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela. The defensive midfielder, who has established himself as first choice ahead of Luiz Gustavo in the last year, was forced off of Real’s 3-0 win over Espanyol on Sunday.

Madrid have confirmed that the player broke a bone in his leg, but the injury is not expected to be too serious. Whilst the La Liga side refuse to put an exact timeframe to the injury, but La Marca suggests he could be sidelined for three weeks.

This would almost certainly mean he is unavailable for Brazil’s World Cup qualifier double header against Bolivia in Natal on 6th October and Venezuela in Mérida on 11th. It remains to be seen whether Tite calls up a replacement, he has already been forced to call for Taíson after injury to Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa.
