Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho has opened up about Jurgen Klopp’s pressing demands, in an interview with ESPN Brazil immediately after the Reds’ 2-1 win over Chelsea on Friday, Coutinho insisted that pressuring opponents is a big part of Klopp’s training sessions.
“We try to press a lot. We are a team that plays pressing high. We work it a lot during the week. This is something that the coach asks and demands of us. Of course, we did well. We were superior and deserved to win.”
Coutinho also spoke of his pride of being called for his national team once more for October qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela, “It’s always an honour to wear the shirt of the national team. It’s a great pride. The two are important games.
“Of course, we have the goal of being qualified at the end. These are two games that can give us more confidence and we will go there to do our job calm, happy and with confidence. We were there in the locker room and Firmino was very happy. I’m happy for him.”
