Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says defender Gabriel should be able to return to action for the midweek League Cup tie against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The Brazilian has been out for 6 weeks with an ankle injury picked up in a pre-season friendly against Manchester City in Stockholm.

The Gunners have since bought German international Shkodran Mustafi, however, they have a policy of rotating the team heavily for League Cup ties. Gabriel will likely partner Rob Holding in the centre of defence for the match against the Championship side.

Speaking in his Friday press conference, Wenger said, “Gabriel is back in training, he might play on Tuesday.” Gabriel has been in full training for the last week and may even make the bench for today’s Premier League clash against Hull City.
