Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho says that he aims to score more goals this season. The Brazilian scored twice against Arsenal on the opening day of the season, but admits that he will need to trouble the net more regularly this season.

Coutinho has featured in a rotatable front three alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino this season as the Reds notched up four goals against both of last season’s top two- Leicester City and Arsenal.

Having scored eight times last season, Coutinho told the Liverpool Echo, “I’ve always maintained that scoring goals is something I have to improve,” Coutinho told the Liverpool Echo.

“I’m always trying to get better and I’ve been working hard on it, of course, I’m the kind of player who’s always looking to improve. So if I can score more goals this season, excellent, but the most important thing is to help the team and do what the manager asks me to do.”

Meanwhile, Coutinho is relishing tonight’s clash with Chelsea and at Stamford Bridge, “Chelsea is a team that is always competitive, always fighting for the league title, a team that always has great players and a great history,” he said.

“Of course to be champions the season before last and then have a bad season is difficult, but I’m only concerned with Liverpool and what we have to do, and our job is to go there and get the points at Chelsea.”
