Brazilian football agent Wagner Ribeiro claims that Neymar was offered a salary of €650,000 per week to join Paris Saint Germain this summer, prior to the striker signing a new contract with current club Barcelona.

Neymar is primarily represented by his father, but Wagner maintains close ties to the Neymar family, he also alleges that a move to Manchester United was very much on the cards. Speculation grew last year as Neymar stalled on a new deal with the Catalan club.

“He was very close to PSG. He would have earned €40m a year. Neymar was also close to a move to Manchester United. But he renewed his contract for less money with Barcelona, because he wanted to stay in Barcelona.”

The Brazilian eventually signed new terms with Barcelona, tying him to the club till 2021. His deal has a buyout clause of €200m for the first year of his contract, €222m for the second and €250m for the remaining three years.
