Goalkeeper of the Brazilian U20 national team, 19-year-old Caíque, has been closely monitored in recent weeks by Benfica and Cruzeiro.
Clubs have made enquiries for information about the values of a possible negotiation. According to the information from Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, the Bahia club wants to sell the goalkeeper, who has been likened to former player Dida, to balance the club’s accounts. They’re hoping to make €4 million to €5.5 million from a transfer, and the release clause is set at €11 million. The young player’s contract runs until September 2018. Benfica sees Caíque as a player for the future, and his compatriots Júlio César and Éderson are already at the club. Cruzeiro, in turn, began to think about signing Caíque after the serious injury to Fábio, who ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will return to the pitch only in 2017. The good performances of Lucas França, however, has cooled the rush of the club’s board in searching a replacement for the position.
