São Paulo defender Rodrigo Caio had bleeding in his mouth after a collision with Palmeiras’ Vitor Hugo, but was replaced in the first-half because of pain in the hip.
Rodrigo Caio left the stadium after São Paulo’s derby against Palmeiras and went to a hospital to receive stitches in the mouth. Rodrigo Caio had bleeding in the mouth following a clash with Palmeiras defender Vitor Hugo, 25 minutes into the first half. Prior to the incident, Rodrigo Caio had felt felt pain in the right hip and also received treatment in the field. The pain persisted, and he was replaced by youngster Lyanco after 39 minutes of the first half. Due to this hip problem, the 23-year-old is a doubt for the game against Figueirense on Sunday, at Morumbi. The player will be re-evaluated on Thursday, at the club’s training centre. Before the derby, he had recovered from an injury to the adductor muscle of his right thigh. Rodrigo Caio was part of the Brazilian squad that won the Gold medal in the Rio Olympic Games, and was strongly linked to a move to Europe. Clubs like Sevilla, Lazio, Napoli, AC Milan and Hamburg were interested in the player.
