Called up to be the starting goalkeeper of Brazil in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Prass suffered an injury during the preparations for the competition and was eventually left out of the squad. According to SporTV reporter André Hernan, the Brazilian football federation will request an extra medal to the International Olympic Committee [IOC] to honour the player of Palmeiras. At 38, Prass was picked for the first time to compete in the Olympic Games. During the preparations, he fractured his right elbow and was replaced by Atlético Paranaense"s Wéverton. Prass had to undergo surgery and was ruled out for the rest of the season. Despite having been left out, the goalkeeper was reminded by his colleagues throughout the campaign and was honored after the victory over Germany in the final. Players like Gabriel Jesus, Gabigol and Rodrigo Caio wore the shirt of Prass when they stepped on the podium to collect their medals.
