Chelsea's David Luiz becomes second most expensive Brazilian player ever in cumulative transfer fees

The return of defender David Luiz to Chelsea, which was sealed on Wednesday, has made him the second most expensive Brazilian player in terms of cumulative transfer fees.
When adding the €38.5 million paid by the English club, the sum of the amounts of his transfer fees become €113.5 million, leaving behind Fenômeno Ronaldo, Neymar, Robinho, Kaká and Willian. In addition to his latest return to the Premier League, David Luiz has had three transfers in his career: Vitória to Benfica for €500,000 in 2007, Benfica to Chelsea for €25 million in 2011 and Chelsea to PSG for €49.5 million in 2014. David Luiz is the 11th on the list of players who has generated the most money in transfer fees in the history of football. The list is led by Argentine star Ángel di María [€179 million], who's followed by Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimović [€169.1 million] and Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuaín [€141 million]. Hulk, who's fourth in the list, is the only Brazilian ahead of David Luiz. Hulk's transfer fees adds to €129.8 million, of which €55.8 million corresponds to his recent move from Zenit to Chinese side Shangai SIPG.
